Visiting the Real Filming Locations of ‘Twilight’
Click here to go back to my tips for your Twilight trip.
The actual places where Twilight was filmed take place in both Oregon and Washington so you’ll have to plan your time accordingly. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we were only able to visit locations in Oregon:
- The Swan house (St. Helens)
- Parking lot where Edward saves Bella (St. Helens)
- Thunderbird & Whale Bookstore (St. Helens)
- Alley (St. Helens)
- Bloated Toad restaurant (St. Helens)
- Petite Jolie – Angel Hair Salon (St. Helens)
- Jilly’s (Not a filming location but where they got the prom dresses and set decor from) (St. Helens)
- Multnomah Falls (Corbett)
- Carver Cafe (Damascus)
- The View Point Inn (Corbett)
- Cullen House (Portland)
- Ballerina Studio (Portland)

The Swan House
Location: 184 S 6th St, Saint Helens, OR
The Swan house was an easy find. I would suggest parking in the parking lot that you’ll come across on your right-hand side before you go up the small hill. The house is within walking distance from the parking lot.
Parking Lot, Alley and Thunderbird & Whale Bookstore
Location: 260 S 2nd St, Saint Helens, OR
Tip: Find the parking lot first – it’ll be much easier scouting out the alley and bookstore.
All three of these locations are right next to each other. When we had first visited the parking lot we had no idea the alley and the bookstore were right within that same area too. We ended up getting lost looking for the bookstore and didn’t realize we were already near it when we had visited the parking lot!
Bloated Toad Restaurant
Location: 330 S 1st St, Saint Helens, OR
When we got to this location we couldn’t help but re-enact the scene with Jessica and Angela bumping into Edward and Bella as they were leaving the restaurant 😉
Petite Jolie – Angel Hair Salon
Location: 251 S 1st St, Saint Helens, OR
I was really excited to visit this place and get a chance to see Catherine Hardwicke’s director’s chair in the window but sadly we came upon a vacant store 😦
Jilly’s
Location: 299 S 1st St, St. Helens, Oregon
I never got a chance to step inside but if you do go for it!
The View Point Inn
Location: 40301 East Larch Mountain Road, Corbett, OR
The View Point Inn is a gorgeous place especially on a sunny day. Enjoy the drive up to it – it’s really beautiful and reminds you a bit of Twilight with all the tress around 🙂
Check out this great interview with the co-owner of the inn, Geoff Thompson, giving viewers a tour of the Inn and discussing the parts that were filmed there.
Don’t expect to find the place where Jacob finds Bella waiting for Edward outside the inn – that scene was actually shot in Pasdena (tip from Twilight: Director’s Notebook).
Multnomah Falls
Location: 50000 E Historic Columbia River Hwy, Corbett, OR
You can see the falls in a quick scene in Twilight – when Edward and Bella are on their way to the baseball field they are on that bridge that is pictured behind us and in that scene you can see the falls in the background.
If you do come to the falls, take the hike up all the way to the top. It’s hard work – bring a pair of tennis shoes and water! – but the view from the very top is well worth it and absolutely BREATHTAKING.
Carver Cafe
Location: 16471 S.E. Highway 224, Damascus, OR
I had referenced the address for Carver’s Cafe from Experience Twilight but the GPS didn’t lead us in the right direction with it. It’s because the cafe is actually located in Damascus, not Carver which the website lists it as – just make a note of that when you’re on your way to visit it.
The first thing I did was look for steak and berry cobbler on the menu ;P Sadly, both of them were not listed. I later learned from my handy dandy Twilight: Director’s Notebook that screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg wrote up the Carver Cafe diner menu after visiting “Forks Coffee Shop” in Forks, WA and reading what they served – that’s how steak and cobbler got included in the movie. If you’re interested you can view Carver’s complete menu here.
Don’t forget! Before you leave, be sure and sign the Twilight fanbook! The waitress who served us said the first fanbook they had had got stolen so they started up a new one, which I believe was 3/4 full of signatures when we were there.
The Ballet Studio
Location: 800 SE 10th Avenue, Portland, OR Thank you to @kaseysarah for helping me find this address again! 🙂
This place was just used for the exterior shots when Bella is headed to meet James.
The Cullen House
Location: 3333 NW Quimby St., Portland, OR
Unfortunately, these were the only photos I was able to take. When we visited the place that day it looked like it was moving day for the family who lived here. They looked busy so we didn’t want to bother them with questions.
The Cullen House is known as “The Hoke House”. Check out this great post about the house with more exterior and interior shots.
Photos are only allowed from the streets – this is a PRIVATE RESIDENCE.
It took us a few trips around the block to find the house – it’s tucked away towards the back of all the other residences.
Twilight tidbit from Twilight: Director’s Notebook: Catherine Hardwicke says “I’m trained as an architect and I couldn’t help but do a little digital remodeling and re-landscaping – even on this gorgeous house. Then, when I read Breaking Dawn during editing – I thought – ‘This house sounds big – esp. the wedding scene – I better add another story on it.'” (p. 159)
You can see the third story added up on top in the still from the movie below.

OMg no fair. I want to do this some day when i;m going to Canada!
G’Day! Twiadventures,
Thanks for that, Each individual time a science fiction movie is currently being produced, it is no shock that a lot of the movies backgrounds are constructed using machine-made imaging or made on a studio back again ton. That’s because this is a awesome motion photograph that is not based in fact, or at minimum for the most part. But, each time a motion picture is striving to deliver a plausible story, studios will often decide on legitimate, physical movie destinations in Los Angeles to be the environment. Hollywood is renowned for earning unbelievably everyday life-like creatures by will mean of its use of laptop or computer-produced images, astounding reproductions of eras extensive seeing that handed as effectively as other wonderful outcomes that go away the viewer spellbound. Yet, extremely in many instances, Hollywood has to depend on true terra-firma to set the tone and backdrop for their features. This is just where movie areas in Los Angeles are important.
Cheers

My Mom is a HUGE Twilight fan and I can’t wait to take her to all of these places! She’s going to be excited; I can’t wait! Thank you so much for posting all of this information and sharing it with us!
My mom is coming to visit me in July/August and she wants to see all the Twilight film locations and your blog showed me were some of them were. The surprise I found in my research was that Vernonia, OR was used for the town of Forks, WA and I only live 14 miles from Vernonia.
I’m gone to inform my little brother, that he should also visit this weblog on regular basis to get updated from latest gossip.
This is great, I had missed the Cullen house before so thanks for the info!

Take me there…!!! 😀
Thank you so much. I got to go to Portland/ St Helens this past week, and went to all the locations shown, except for the Cullen house. That one is on the agenda along with Kalama for the High school for next time. I ate at the Carver cafe, it was so cool to think that Bella and Charlie had been right there!!
I may give a speech in front of a huge number of people from only a number of notes whilst the audience interested and
amused for 2 or 3 hours. No one might be immune to some of the wonderful
medical advances there have been, which inside western world at the very least, has led to people living longer and far healthier
lifestyles.
I WISH!!!!!! to see all places … girls you really enjoyed those places 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing I can’t wait to one day visit these locations 🙂 and thanks for including addresses! your awesome
I believe that the parking lot where Edward saves Bella is actually Kalama High School. Check it out.
And the greenhouses are on the campus of Clackamas Community College.
And one of the early scenes, in a dim warehouse-like atmosphere, where an employee is killed by a vampire is the paper mill in Oregon City, on the Willamette River.
http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-city/index.ssf/2014/11/oregon_city_takes_first_major.html#incart_river
Here is the Blue Heron Paper Mill, near Oregon City, on the Willamette.
And google to see Kalama High School parking lot where Edward saves Bella from the car smash.

Gosh I really enjoyed these pictures! One day, it is one of my goals to do a Twilight Tour.
Looks like a fun trip! Thanks for sharing!!!
To anyone who happens to read this, I can’t emphasize enough just how much “Twilight” you can cover in tiny St. Helens, Oregon. It is quite easy to finesse a trip centered in Seattle (or Portland) and cover both Forks, WA AND St. Helens, Oregon during a car trip.
Obviously “Forks” is the NAME that everybody wants, and which is associated with the movie, but I can’t stress enough just HOW MANY different Twilight scenes can be identified in the small area of central St. Helens, Oregon. Many of them are things which can’t or won’t magically disappear.
Once in the downtown area of St. Helens, Oregon, a person need park only once and can easily walk to several of the movie set locations.
If flying into Seattle, Forks is a bit of a haul, by car, out on the northern coast, but St. Helens, Oregon is a 30-mile drive from Portland, Oregon. It would be easy to add a day in St. Helens to a Portland business trip for anyone with an interested daughter. And a couple of hours actually IN St. Helens is perhaps all that would be required for a considerable immersion in scenes from the movie.
FYI – St Helens, OR is about 3 hours by car FROM SEATTLE…
where FORKS takes about 4 hours AND A FERRY RIDE to reach FROM Seattle.
While I know that “Forks, WA” is the magical place, the most time-cost effective place to visit may be St. Helens, Oregon, for all things Twilight.
Somebody who happened to be round-tripping from PORTLAND to St. Helens, could take a different path back, crossing into Washington State at Longview, WA, and then heading south on Interstate 5 and stopping in Kalama, WA, where Kalama High School provided the backdrop for the outdoor parking lot scenery in the first Twilight movie.
(sadly, while St. Helens, and Kalama are just a few miles apart, you have to drive much farther to get from one to the other, for the lack of bridges in the area)
Hope this helps those who are still big Twilight fans (like the woman from Australia who I met yesterday).
Omg I never realized half of these places are so close to my home. I drive past Carver Cafe every day and I’ve been to Multnomah Falls multiple times… That’s a must see location regardless of the movie. Now I want to watch the movies again to look at the background lol.
FYI… We drove through Forks once. I found it to be quite a depressing little logging town. The lady at the gas station was incredibly rude but there was a little souvenir shop that had some nice employees. Just above it is a gorgeous drive through Olympia National Forest. The forests are so tall and dense. Just south of there are some of the most beautiful secluded beaches if you want to make a day of it and drive down the coast.
Awesome great
just loved your pic and I know you guys had a great time but I am coming with 2 other people and they are bring there dog where did you stay
My sister and I came from Georgia to visit all of these spots. It was an amazing trip! We stayed at the Red Lion Jantzen’s Beach in Portland which was a very central location. We even drove up to Seattle one day and down to Eugene to visit Autzen Stadium!

We are planning our trip to Portland in July. I plan to visit most of these places and enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest. FYI, I am a father of two and I am 49 years old. My daughter got me hooked on these years after they came out.
I live right by Kalama. I recommend you stay in Longview WA. Its a small town and you can go about 9 miles south to Kalama and see the school which is really cool btw. Also its a quick drive to Portland because the speed on I-5 is 70mph in WA and 55 mph in Oregon. Then in Longview you just jump over the Lewis and Clark bridge and its a beautiful drive to the town St.Helen’s . Then from there you can go to Vernonia where more senes from Twilight were shot and then hope on hwy 26 and go to Ecola State Park /Indian Beach which was were they filmed for the La Push senes. Then head back up 101 and stop for fish and chips in Astoria where Goonies was filmed then back on 30 to head back to Longview. You can do this all in a day or spread it out. Its a beautiful trip. Just a tip from a local.
Really love this place…in dream walking together with jacob at La Push…. 😘
Thank you so much! My husband and I are on our way thanks to all of the addresses provided!

epically spans across planets and worlds, both opening up our imaginations and inspiring wanderlust. But from the deserts of Jakku to the forests of Endor, the real-life filming locations are much closer than you would think.
Are we able to take a tour of the cullen house today??
